3 Neuroathletic Exercises for Tinnitus

Reading time: 3 minutes

Do you suffer from tinnitus? That constant ringing in your ears that almost drives you crazy, especially when you're trying to fall asleep? Often, tinnitus is only temporary and can be alleviated or even disappear completely with the right measures. Neuroathletic trainer Kevin Grafen shows you the best neuroathletic exercises you can do to relieve tinnitus.

Tinnitus – the invisible burden

Tinnitus is the perception of ear noises such as beeping or rushing, without an external sound source being present. Although the ear canal is usually healthy with tinnitus, for many people it sounds as if the noises are coming from exactly there. This can quickly become a burden in everyday life.

Tip: Individual therapy through bone conduction

The SoundVibe can be used for effective tinnitus relief. These are bone conduction headphones that do not work like conventional loudspeakers, but transmit sound and frequencies directly to your inner ear via your skull bones.

The SoundVibe is connected to a special frequency generator app on your smartphone. Since tinnitus occurs unilaterally in many cases, the app offers the possibility to control only one ear with the headphones.

This way you can treat your tinnitus individually with bone conduction. Kevin also has effective exercises for jaw tension – another possible cause of tinnitus. You can find out exactly how all this works here:

Neuroathletic Exercise 1: Finding the Tinnitus Tone

Even though the tones of tinnitus are usually very high, a rather low frequency of 100 Hertz is initially played into the ear via the bone conduction headphones. Step by step, the Hertz frequencies are increased with the app in the headphones. The goal is to find the tone that corresponds as closely as possible to your tinnitus. You can repeat this bone conduction exercise several times a day at the appropriate frequency for ten to 20 seconds.

The background: The brain often generates these sounds itself to keep certain nerve cells in the auditory system active. However, if these cells are regularly stimulated from the outside with exactly this tone, the brain can learn not to generate the tinnitus itself anymore – and in the best case, it will completely fade away.

Fun Fact: You can also use your bone conduction headphones normally for listening to music or making calls! Simply use them like normal Bluetooth headphones.

Neuroathletic Exercise 2: Mobilizing the Jaw

The next exercise focuses on the temporomandibular joint, because a tense jaw can also trigger tinnitus. Therefore, the goal now is to mobilize and relax the jaw. This is very easy to do without any aids, with the right, careful head rotations and special slow movements of the lower jaw, which Kevin shows you in the video.

Neuroathletic Exercise 3: Stimulating the Auditory Nerve

For the third exercise, you will need the Z-Vibe vibrating pen, equipped with the fine attachment. This is used to massage and vibrate the temporomandibular joint for about one minute. Why? It's simple: the auditory nerve runs there, along with numerous other nerves. If this area is vibrated, it is possible that the tinnitus will disappear.

Conclusion: Say goodbye to tinnitus!

Tinnitus can be a major burden for many people – especially when the constant ringing or other ear noises disrupt sleep or make hearing difficult in everyday life. With targeted neuroathletic exercises, such as jaw mobilization or auditory nerve stimulation, symptoms can be reduced and the body can actively relax.

By using bone conduction, for example with bone conduction headphones, tinnitus can be treated individually. The appropriate volume and frequency are precisely set to specifically address your nerve cells.

The three simple exercises can help alleviate your ear noises – and in the long term even prevent hearing loss. Try out what does you good – and regularly give your neck, your hearing, and your nervous system little breaks. Your body will thank you.
